Certificate III in HACC
Diploma of Community Services
I was ready for a change and from my research I knew that disability and aged care were two industries that were growing rapidly. I was ready to re-skill to meet the job market and find a career, not just a job.
With my Diploma now complete I am a senior disability support worker, responsible for much of the training of new staff and have recently been asked to fill in for management. I am excited by the opportunities that lay ahead and proud to work in this industry.
I started studying Early Childhood while still completing Year 12 at school, but I really thought I would become a builder or carpenter. I’m totally happy with how things have worked out for me. I am just about to complete my Certificate III qualification and working here at the Centre as a trainee. I hope to continue working with young children and progress to studying a Certificate IV in Youth Work. The future looks bright.
Having previously owned and managed my own medical centre for 12 years I thought this would be an opportunity for me to help out in the community. I was offered an opportunity to work [very limited hours] as soon as my course finished. But I said YES, within 6 weeks my work [hours] had increased immensely and with Christmas approaching I made myself available for anything at anytime. I’m very proud to say I was made the first “Employee of the Month”. I’m still with the same company and love what I do.
I want to change the area that I work in and doing a Certificate III in Business Administration is a great way to start this new path in the direction I want to go. I would say that it is always a great idea to learn new things and get new experiences, so you can keep on improving yourself and your skills, whether you’re doing it for professional or personal reasons.
I was a stay at home mum for my 4 children. My youngest are 16 year old twins and I thought they didn’t need me as much so I did the course with my husband. With my Certificate III completed I’m now working in a nursing home and loving every minute of it. I really love listening to the residents and their life stories. To anyone thinking of doing this course I would say just give it your best shot and go for it.
I was a professional Ballerina and was looking for a new career path, one that would be long term this time. I enjoy caring for and helping people of all ages and backgrounds. My mother and I decided to participate in the course together.
All over the world Aged Care is a big issue that needs attention, as we are living longer and more people are preferring to stay in their homes with some assistance or move into a home where all their needs can be met as they age. I learn’t a lot from the course.
Introduction to Leisure & Health
I was working part time as an administrator assistant in real estate as well as caring for my young children. Making a difference to lives, giving quality of life is what I really wanted to do. A meaningful career, filled with opportunities, challenges and rewards is the reason I got started in aged care. I’ve completed both the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) and Introduction to Leisure & Health with ACE. But I’m not leaving it there. By October this year I will have commenced my enrolled nurse course.
CLEARVIEW EARLY LEARNING & KINDERGARTEN
We have employed in-house students enrolled with the College for the past three years. It’s an outstanding opportunity for students to work, gain experience and complete their studies. I believe this approach creates more knowledgeable and skilled early childhood educators.
Consistent contact with the students and our Centre, quality contemporary course resources, and scheduled in-person visits to support the students and ensure their success are the elements that really make ACE different as an RTO. So good is the course quality I’ve decided to upgrade my own qualifications.
DIPLOMA EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND CARE
My friend had done a course with ACE and she thought it would be a great place for me to begin my training. It’s really close to home, so I looked it up on the internet and then came to the College to find out some more information. The team here made all the difference.
I did this course for my young daughter – I wanted her to look at me and be proud of my achievements. Within the first 40 hours of work placement I was offered a job, wow! I didn’t think I was good enough, and was nervous when starting. But after that, I knew not only my daughter would be proud, I was proud of myself. I felt more confident and proved to myself that I could do it.
All students with English as a second language like me feel nervous about joining classes. I would encourage anyone thinking the same way to not be afraid, don’t let it hold you back. Just look at me – you can do it!
My husband had done this same course, he was very happy with the training and in that time I also got to know the trainer and she was amazing!
Doing this course opened my eyes to a whole different world which I hadn’t really thought that much about before. The trainer [Leeann] couldn’t help you enough, she has many years of experience behind her and she was very passionate about the industry.
I completed the Certificate III in Aged Care and have gone onto do Certificate III in Individual Support – Disability and I find it inspiring because of the people I have come into contact with already. Plus I have gained employment and can’t wait to further expand on my studies.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain if you are looking for a career or a change just go for it.
