Your Tree of Life

We’ve all got deep roots, and our branches are always a work in progress.

Artist Laila Page invites you to explore your own sacred tree, or your family tree. Will it be a giving tree, or a healing tree? You can choose to grow your own story or unveil your ancestral story – whatever inspires you. Each branch, leaf, fruit, or item has its place. What does your tree look like?

These workshops will offer an opportunity for creativity and personal discovery. You’ll be completely supported and encouraged as you discover the places, events, and connections important to you. Draw, sketch, colour, paint, or ink your way through to depict your unique story into a magnificent tree.

Absolutely anyone is welcome to join in this wonderful practice of self-care, mindfulness and reflection. This course runs for three sessions, over three consecutive weeks at Laila’s art studio in Clunes (Studio 3, 17 Walker Street, Clunes NSW).

TRAINER

Laila Page draws trees. She draws, paints, sculpts, and does other fab stuff too. But right now, she’s focussed on trees as custodians and vessels for our stories. They tell the story of our culture, origins, the health, and wealth of our ecosystems. They feed us the air that we breathe and nurture the multitude of systems around them. Laila draws the meaning of our own complex webs into the vital web of the Tree of Life.

“I started painting as a young child and went on to study a BA (hons) in Fine Art. I have been working as a full time artist for the past 25 years, recently illustrating a children’s book. I developed this course with the intention to pass along the ways in which art can be a form of healing for us all.”

MATERIALS

Please bring along:

• Your own portable device to find and mimic images (e.g. phone or iPad/tablet)
• Sketch book
• Coloured pencils
• Notepad and pen.

Please note: 1x A3 Arches cold press paper and special paints will be available at the conclusion of the course, should you wish to reproduce your final design into a keepsake. This will be an additional cost, arranged with the trainer on the final day.
