Course
Description
If we draw faces only from photos, our drawings will end up looking like… photos! In this two-day portrait workshop, practise the method of the Old Masters to create realistic portraits with a greater sense of strength and boldness.
For inspiration, you will be drawing heads from 3D plaster copies of sculptures from Ancient Greece and Rome, the Italian Renaissance and 19th Century France. To finish, students will apply their new skills and draw a portrait from a live model.
This course runs for two sessions, over two consecutive weeks at our Lismore campus.
TRAINER
Artist Harry Westera has enjoyed a life long love for art. Originally trained in still life and portraits in oil painting, he is now primarily painting landscapes in watercolour. Teaching high school Visual Art and community workshops has created a special opportunity for Harry to pass on the skills that others have taught him.
MATERIALS
All drawing materials will be provided.
Material fees are $20 to cover the cost of the live model.
