Course
Description
Get your fingers dirty and explore the wonderful, messy, dark world of charcoal.
Develop your range of artistic expression, from 3D realism to expressive line and tone, from dramatic statement to moody atmospheric artwork.
Explore different techniques and processes using willow, vine and compressed charcoal, charcoal pencils, paper stumps, tissue, and erasers.
In this course you will draw a range of items and subjects – from both photo images and actual objects – on medium to large sheets of paper. There will be a range of objects and images provided for you to draw – or bring your own.
This course runs for two sessions, over two consecutive weeks at our Lismore campus. Each session will commence with practical charcoal exercises and a demonstration drawing. Our small group training format means you receive loads of individual instruction and guidance.
TRAINER
This course is delivered by Artist Harry Westera, a super popular creative and ACE fan favourite. “Charcoal drawing is an extension of my drawing practice developed through life drawing at Julian Ashton School of Art and dozens of sketch books over the years. I enjoy passing on the skills, experience and ideas. It is very satisfying seeing students learning new processes and being better able to express their ideas and feelings in a visual form”.
MATERIALS
All materials and equipment provided at an additional $25 fee (payable to the trainer on the first day of class).
