2020 has been a big year of change for ACE Community Colleges with it’s transition into the online and digital space and major renovations at the Lismore campus. However, it’s also a very big year of celebration for our wonderful College as this year represents 25 years since ACE Community Colleges obtained it’s Registered Training Organisation registration (RTO).
ACE Community Colleges was established in 1972 as an evening college, where people of the community could come and learn and develop their personal skills together, whether it be in arts, language or literacy. The significance of 25th July 1995 is that ACE Community Colleges transitioned their learning into the accredited training space, which enabled the college to not only continue to deliver it’s community based programs, but now roll out quality training that lead to nationally accredited certifications. This meant that people across the local community could undertake training with ACE Community Colleges not only for personal development, but importantly to gain employment.
In those 25 years, ACE Community Colleges has continued to grow and now finds itself in three major locations of Lismore, Burleigh Waters and Southport, delivering quality accredited training across both New South Wales and Queensland. In those 25 years it’s been a privilege to be part of the learning journey of students as they complete their studies and secure employment. There are so many success stories, with ACE students reaching out and achieving brilliant careers in the Aged Care, Early Childhood Education, Disability and Business sectors. On top of that we see people gain their licences and first aid certifications, none of which would have been possible without our RTO registration.
Whilst change has been a constant factor in the past 25 years across everything we do; particularly in the way in which our training is delivered, there is likely to be more change to come into the future. Reassuringly what has remained at the core of ACE Community Colleges is the importance of community development, engagement and targeted innovation to enable locals to find local employment and confidently connect with the wider community.
Here is to the next 25 years and beyond!
Over the month of July we are posting weekly celebration packages on our social pages. The images from back in the day are crazy good. Go here to find our NSW Facebook and QLD Facebook links.
