Joanne took a step out of her comfort zone and found herself in her dream career. Having spent 25 years in hospitality, it was time for a change to better suit to her empathetic, caring nature. A little nervous being a mature-aged student, she set her sights on ACE Burleigh and the Certificate III in Individual Support (connected learning).
“Convenience and location was totally appealing for me with ACE, as it was so close to my home. Once the course started and I met Leeann and Melanie, the way they delivered their lessons, their support and information were second to none – amazing. Flexibility of being online worked well. It was great to do the workshops, as you got to see your trainers in person, that helps make you feel part of the team.”
And it gets better! Having shown her great work-ethic, energy and personality to staff and residents at work placement (something trainer Melanie Duck will attest to), she has gained employment at Bupa Aged Care.
“Completing my Cert 3 has definitely given me the confidence to be able to go into a new career with a better idea of how the day to day works in an aged care environment. I got so much out of my placement. I probably wouldn’t have been given the opportunity to work at Bupa if I hadn’t completed my course with you guys.”
