Happy Queensland Seniors Month! Time to #Love GettingOlderInQueensland ❤️ Let’s celebrate older Queenslanders as the heart and soul of our communities and encourage people of all ages, cultures, and ability to connect.
Too often we hear that people feel invisible as they get older. This can have a hindering effect on people’s daily lives, relationships with people, and accessing support services. That’s why over the course of Queensland Seniors Month, structures around the state will light up purple and pink in a shining celebration of older Queenslanders and Seniors Month.
Seniors Month begins on the United Nations International Day of Older Persons (1 October). Towards the end of October, the Queensland Government and Council in the Ageing (COTA) is also shining a special light on grandparents, with structures lighting up yellow and orange in celebration of Grandparents Day (27 October).
Meanwhile our ACE community care students are joining in events at their work placement aged care facilities. You can also join the fun in support of our older Queenslanders! Check out the official event calendar here: https://qldseniorsmonth.org.au/events/
